Jackie loves bacon, ham and sausage, but dislikes porkchops. There was a lot riding on Ian liking this- if he did, I would get to eat pork for dinner again (since we hand only had it twice for dinner in the last 8 years).

Sure enough, not only did he like it, but Jackie did as well!

I thought it was delicious btw- I love garlic and the honey made it very sweet. The shame of it all was jackie only marinated 2 thin chops- she could have easily made 2 per person.

For the record I created this recipe on my own from scratch. The portions are sized for big hungry people so expect leftovers. I have tried a couple different beers and use whatever works for you. I agree that cheap beer works well (try it in rice) but even though I don't drink it, I prefer Bud as my base.

Also I have a spreadsheet which has the portions calculated so you can plug in how many people you want to feed and it will tell you exact amounts and approx cost.

I love cheesecake... usually when i try someone's homemade cheesecake, it is very thin (i think this is a result of not using enough cream cheese) and/or it doesn't have a strong enough flavor, which makes for a bad cheesecake...your cheesecake was very rich and had a perfect depth to it... nice job! I am told that making good cheesecake is very tough but you did a fine job!!

[...] This is the cake I made for Ian’s first birthday and I know Jesse was sharing the description around at work, so I decided to make it for them this weekend. It’s a really delicious cake that’s fairly easy to make as long as you have a little patience or not quite the perfectionist that I can be. [...]

Make sure to use whipped frosting. It goes on so much better than the creamy stuff.

Beer-wise, I'd go for a lighter lager or lighter pilsner.

I agree w/ Mick that anything thick & hoppy wouldn't be good - I think it would overpower everything else / taint it.

MGD is my beer of choice for BBQ sauce, but I haven't ever used it in chili. I think it might be a good one. Labatt's Blue might be a good choice as well.

No, Sam Adams Boston Lager (it's not an "American Lager" style wise)is Thick, Rich and Hoppy. You might actually want something Lighter and Yeaster.

No, "Lite" Beer but the fuller flavor cousin Such as Budweiser, Miller Genuine Draft, but again I'd recommend a cheaper beer like Old Milwaukee or Pabst Blue Ribbon.

Trust me in cooking the cheaper the beer the more it make the flavor come alive in Chili or in BeerButt Chicken.
